On July 22, 2026, a TV anime adaptation of Studio Cabana was officially confirmed, with broadcast planned for 2027. The manga, written by Uma Aguri and serialized on the webcomic platform Sylph since 2021, has built a devoted following — much of it on TikTok — around its central image: a boy who sings, and a girl who happens to be the one who hears him.

The Story So Far

Yuusuke Kusaka has a face striking enough to keep most people at a distance. Yukari Maki is the one person who doesn’t seem to notice, or care. Their story quietly begins the moment she stumbles onto him singing inside Studio Cabana — a version of him no one else has been allowed to see. From there, the manga has spent eight volumes tracing how that one unguarded moment slowly reshapes both of them.

A Teaser Visual With a Line That Lands

The teaser visual, released alongside the announcement, shows Yukari and Yuusuke on the rooftop where they first meet — the exact scene the manga opens on. It’s paired with a tagline that’s already circulating widely among fans: “If this isn’t love, then tell me what it is.” For readers who know that rooftop scene, it’s hard to read those words and not feel the whole story behind them.

An official anime website and X account have also launched.

Cast: One Confirmed, One Still a Mystery

Sayumi Suzushiro will reprise the role of Yukari Maki, continuing from the character PV released earlier. Casting for Yuusuke Kusaka has not been announced yet — arguably the detail fans are most anxious about, given how much the story hinges on him.

There’s also a more unusual piece of casting news: production is running a separate public vote and audition specifically to choose a “singing artist” for Yuusuke, distinct from his voice actor. Splitting the singing and speaking roles is not a common approach, and it says something about how central music is to this story — Yuusuke’s singing isn’t a side detail in Studio Cabana, it’s close to the emotional core of the whole series.

Staff Confirmed So Far

  • Animation studio: JUVENAGE
  • Director: Shin’ichirou Ushijima (I Want to Eat Your Pancreas)
  • Series composition: Sawako Hirabayashi
  • Character design: Haruka Sagawa (also responsible for the teaser visual and character designs)

Ushijima’s history with quietly devastating emotional pacing has already raised expectations for how the anime will handle the manga’s more restrained moments.

Early International Reaction

The announcement traveled fast. Reaction on Reddit and other international fan spaces has been enthusiastic, with recurring comments about how long fans have been waiting for this adaptation, excitement over how the music scenes will be handled, and a broader sense that shoujo anime is having a real moment right now.

What’s Still Unconfirmed

Broadcast network, the voice actor for Yuusuke, the singing artist selection, opening and ending themes, and international streaming availability have not been announced. We’ll update this article as official details are confirmed.
